EP Legacy Gameplay 5.2

Over the next couple of days, Imani caught various lizards, turtles, snakes, and rodests, completing her lifetime wish. She released all but her rarest finds, a pygmy tortoise and ancient dragon lizard, which she moved into terrariums in her bedroom.

Aristide took Marie on a date to the Hangman’s Tree National Historic Landmark park, where he discovered they share the friendly and loves the outdoors traits.

He read about the historic landmark, while she laid out a picnic for them to eat together.

Imani taught her falcon some songs, although this doesn’t seem actually to teach him anything that stands apart from the teaching animation itself.

Cassandra had experienced a few unsuccessful evenings in the dog park, where she arrived too late to make significant process with her canine friendships. I decided to have her buy a cure for her vampirism from the science lab.

Jaylen ordered pizza for everyone to celebrate.

As a mortal sim, Cassandra was now able to take Tamsie to the dog park during the daytime. Not long after they arrived, Kim Marshall showed up with her cute little puppy BaBa.

Jaylen befriended his neighbour Shawnee Fox and was granted permission to ride his horse Bramble. Jaylen took Bramble to the equestrian center to train for racing. I chose the ‘jockey training’ tone so that Jaylen could build his own skill more quickly.

Cassandra got to know Shawnee’s dog Shep. Unfortunately he gave her fleas, so she had to go home and take a bath afterwards.

Imani and Aristide had a joint birthday party. I gave her the animal lover trait, and he rolled vehicle enthusiast. After the party, I moved Aristide into a cosy little home just next door.

Maryann moved in, and she and Cassandra went to investigate the haystacks behind the house.

The next day, Cassandra changed into her maternity outfit! I hadn’t expected any children this early on, so it’s quite exciting.

Imani met local lobyist Booker Singleton, who shares her ambitious nature and also has the loves the outdoors trait to complement her green thumb and love of animals.

Cassandra continued to make friends with dogs around town.

On Maryann’s day off work, they took Tamsie to visit Cinnamon Crest Falls. Cassandra and Maryann enjoyed some fishing, like they used to in Bridgeport, and Tamsie watched a spotted sixam.

After a wonderfully relaxing morning, Maryann asked Cassandra to make their little family ‘official’, and Cassandra happily agreed.

    • I’m using Nraas Woohooer to allow that to happen. I did the same thing for Maria and Manon in my World Adventures generation.

What with male pregnancy and alien babies being introduced with Seasons, I figured sim reproductive systems probably don’t work like ours anyway, so it wouldn’t be too unrealistic to let my same sex couples have babies that took genetic material from both of them.

At some point I might look into trying to work out some kind of donor or surrogacy system using Master Controller to play with genetics and alter family trees, but simply enabling the option in Woohooer is what works for me right now.

      • I don’t use mods, but the fact that Nraas Woohooer lets same-sex couples have babies with a mix of their genes has made me seriously consider it. I just have the Adoption option for my same-sex couples, which is so much more limited.
I’m sure I read somewhere that Into the Future actually came with a feature to allow same-sex couples to visit the Science Lab and leave with a baby that contains genetic material from both of them, but as I don’t have ITF I can’t actually confirm this.

      • Yes, it is a nice feature. If you ever decide to break your mods rule but don’t want to put too many in your game, Master Controller also allows same sex pregnancy, though not by woohoo. My main issue with the adoption system the game provides is that in my experience all the children are zero-slider pudding faces.

Yes, I believe the engineer a baby feature does come with Into the Future, but I haven’t tried it out myself yet. I’ll have to make sure I do that in my final generation! Do you think you’ll get ITF at some point?

I think maybe the door of life and death from the store also offers some kind of same sex pregnancy solution, but I have a faint recollection of reading something about all the babies made that way being puddings.

      • Was going to ask about her getting pregnant from her GF as well but babay beat me to it. 🙂 I have tested the ITF feature, its actually at the hospital in the future and it works quite well. Still would be nice if there was a donor/surrogacy system though.

  1. Hello, GreenCats!
I just discovered your website here and it was quite the coincidence! I don’t even know where to start… I plowed through reading your legacy in just a couple days and enjoyed it a great deal. You have told some wonderful stories and also showcased so much of each of the expansion packs so far. (You’ve improved my opinion of Generations and even convinced me to maybe someday try the daycare profession.)

I used to lurk on your Barnacle Bay makeover thread in the Creative Corner of the official forums. I have always been in awe of your building skills and loved to see each new creation you made and also enjoyed the little insights into your creative process. You were one of the people who inspired me to look at building in the Sims a completely different way and I’ve never looked back. Building is now my favorite part of the game, although I’m far from being an expert. A while back I took a bit of a hiatus from the forums and when I returned, I was sad to realize I had lost your thread and it never showed up in the first pages of Creative Corner again. I assumed you were no longer working on it. So I was quite surprised to find a post of yours from not too long ago in a thread in the GG forum. From there, I discovered a link to here and am so delighted to see I was wrong!

I mentioned a coincidence, though. The really amazing part of all this is that the day before finding the link here, I started writing up rules for a legacy challenge that I’d had the idea for since before TS4 was released and had just never sat down to write up. An expansion pack legacy, with each generation focusing on a different EP. You can’t imagine my shock when I found that you were already doing one. So, if you don’t mind me asking, do you have a specific set of rules you’re following for this? I looked around a bit and haven’t seen any posted, either in regards to your legacy specifically or for such a challenge in general, but this has made me think maybe I’ve missed something.

Anyway, thank you so much for sharing your incredible stories and creations. You really are an inspiration.

Also, I’m sorry for the rambling story and long post…

    • HI! Wow, thanks for this amazing comment. I’m so glad you’ve enjoyed the legacy pictures so far. I do think the daycare profession can be fun; I’d like to replay it at some point with a family with less money to experience the challenge of having to buy toys and so on with a limited income.

Yes, I abandoned that thread after the move to the new forums, but a read-only copy of the old thread is here if you want to see it: http://forum.thesims3.com/jforum/posts/list/752505.page. All my pictures got messed up by the new bb code, and I was annoyed by the way the whole move had been handled by EA, so I decided I wanted a place of my own with which no one could mess. I still pop into GG from time to time, and I’m fairly active on the old My Pages.

It feel so flattered to hear I had a part in introducing you to building, especially since you now love it so much! Do you have somewhere you share your work? I’d love to see what you’ve been up to 🙂

It’s so fun that you had a similar idea! Do let me know if you decide to go ahead with it and end up sharing any gameplay pictures – it would be exciting to see them! I’d also be interested in your challenge’s rules if you decide to write them. I haven’t written out any of my own, but I can do if you’d like to read them…although it would probably be more of a ‘here’s how I’ve been playing’ than an actual rule list.

  2. I can certainly understand your feelings about the forums transfer and agree that EA handled it poorly. It was actually the cause of my own hiatus from the forums, too. After a couple weeks of them being down, I stopped checking and only found my way back months later. I’m glad you have a space all your own now. It’s a lovely site!

I do have a thread in the Creative Corner where I share my builds (and sims) that I’ve uploaded. There’s not a lot to see, as I’m very slow and have a bad habit of having several projects I start and then don’t finish for every one that I actually do complete. It’s also missing a couple older ones. If you’re interested, you can find it here: http://forums.thesims.com/en_US/discussion/760695/kaytayroalls-creations-showcase-last-update-8-11-15/p1

I will certainly let you know when I finish writing up rules and get them posted! I mostly wanted to make sure I wouldn’t be stepping on anyone’s toes by posting a different set of rules for a challenge someone else had already created. It’s very encouraging to see you playing through the same idea and has me itching to start my own! I need to get the rules finished first, though.

I look forward to seeing how your legacy continues to unfold. Pets is one of my personal favorite EPs, mostly because of the horses, and I can’t wait to see what you do with it! 🙂

    • I really like your builds, particularly your use of different textures. Your sims are lovely too; they all have really nice, open faces. I had a fun time going through your studio! I’m not sure if you’re active on the My Pages any more but I sent you a friend request just in case 🙂

      • Thank you for taking the time to look through my studio! This means so much to me, coming from you. I’ve never been very active on the MyPages, even before the forum switch, but noticed when I accepted your friend request that I’ve missed several posts from friends directly on my page. :$ I think I’m going to try to check there more often…

  3. Lovely pictures as always :), The picnic at the landmark was just such a cute date. if you have any vampires in the seasons portion of the game you could always have them use the sun parasol. That’s how one of my vamps gets around during the day. As always looking forward to the next chapter. 🙂
