EP Legacy Gameplay 10.4

Tristan has been doing some underwater photography. I decorated his bedroom with his pictures.

I also added a consignment register to the world and had him start to sell his fish there. Eels are his most profitable catch, selling for 1,000-2,000 simoleons each, so if he keeps finding them his lifetime wish should be very easy to achieve.

I still hadn’t got to building my resort. Freila spent some of her plentiful free time teaching her little sister to walk.

I’d been keeping an eye out for mermaids at the dive lots with no luck, but on his way home one day Tristan finally ran into one splashing about in the shallows.

The mermaid’s name is Salty Seaworth. He turned out to be evil.

Despite Salty’s unpleasant personality, Tristan managed to befriend him. The next day, he blew on a magical conch shell to summon Salty, and invited him to go diving.

Down in the dive lot, I noticed that Salty doesn’t have a tail. Apparently it’s a known bug.

When Tristan asked his new friend about his ‘fish parts’, he handed over a magical kelp that would transform Tristan into a mermaid.

They talked for a while longer, and eventually Salty offered to reveal the way to a secret mermaid island. That’s number five.

The island has a couple of rare sea shell spawners.

When he’d explored the new lot a little more, Tristan headed home to eat the special kelp.

I changed his scale colours. The no tail bug doesn’t seem to effect him.

Here’s how he looks underwater. I couldn’t figure out how to get rid of his sunglasses.

Now he’s a mermaid, Tristan tends to try to swim everywhere, so I always have to remember to choose ‘boat here’ before sending him out.

Garland took Courtney on a date to Rocky Reef.

I tried to have them woohoo in one of the caves there but they got reset.

On their second attempt they managed it.

Later that day, I noticed that Garland had become an uncle. He went to visit his niece and nephew Christine and Arthur.

I was really keen to have Tristan meet the three other pre-made mermaids but I hadn’t seen any of them in the dive lots he’d been visiting, so I cheated a bit and used Master Controller to invite them to a party. All three – Triton King, Mia Azul, and Maya Ocean – showed up.

He got on the best with Maya, thanks to their shared introverted yet active personalities.

I tried to have him ask her out on a date the next morning, but since she’s  a mermaid she had to swim to meet him. To make matters worse, she has the no tail bug, which means she wasn’t even doing her fast mermaid swim but a leisurely breaststroke.

Seven hours later, he was still waiting for her. I eventually tried moving him closer to where she was then asking her out again, but she just kept swimming. It didn’t even look like she was going in the right direction.

  1. It seems mer-people are a bit unpredictable! lol I love the look on the gnome’s face when Tristan starts to eat the kelp, like he’s saying “NO”! I’ve never heard about the ‘no tail’ problem, but I don’t think a lot of people play this world because of all its quirks (otherwise known as glitches!). I will be interested to see how the resort goes. I have heard they are difficult to make profitable, but Tristan seems to be doing well with his eels! Good, interesting chapter! The islands are so pretty, I want one to live on in RL! =D

    • Hahaha, I didn’t notice that but you’re totally right! The gnome must know that mermaids are the glitchiest life state!

The no tail thing is really annoying. If it were just cosmetic I could deal with it, but the problem is that aggravates the already infuriating ‘mermaids swim everywhere’ bug/feature by replacing their speedy mermaid swimming style with normal breaststroke. But don’t worry – I sort of manage to fix Maya in the next part.

Resorts are not to too tough in my experience, but the devs want you to play a certain way. It’s more of a mini-game than a proper sandbox tool. I’ll be covering them a bit over the next couple of parts, but not really explaining the mechanics in depth, so please do ask if there’s anything you want clarified.

The islands are definitely gorgeous; the whole world, really. I love watching the sun sparkle on the waves 🙂

  2. The mermaids swim everywhere thing is ridiculously annoying! Once had mine swim all day while in labor trying to get to the hospital. It was nuts! (funny in retrospect, though!)

  3. Tristan looks great as a mermaid – I love the colour you picked for his scales, really goes well with his hair!

You’ve got some really lovely shots of the dive lots – they look so beautiful and colourful. I’m quite keen to try out Isla Paradiso again with the replacement world file, since it’s currently so laggy it’s unplayable in my game. Everything looks so pretty I’m itching to see it all for myself 🙂
