Lemon Tree Gardens

The best place in town for children’s parties is definitely Lemon Tree Gardens, a small park full of toys. Parents can sip a coffee at the next door cafe, while their children enjoy the food, music, and various outdoor activities the gardens have to offer. If they can find an adult to harvest the lemon trees for them, children can even set up a small business selling lemonade.

The gardens are located at 1611 New Barnacle Blvd., and have entrances on both New Barnacle Blvd. and Rock Pool Park. There are no toilets on this lot – they tend to cause routing problems with outdoor venues, because visiting sims think the toilet door is the front door and all bundle in and get stuck – but I tested the gardens for a sim week and didn’t see any accidents.

The Riggins-Fae Family

Mad scientist Tamsen grew up in a family of thoroughly right-brained sims: her actress sister Alicia, chef brother Garrick and art appraiser mum Bambi.  She was also the only one of her siblings not to inherit her mum’s magical powers, and used to envy their beautiful fairy wings. As she grew older, though, Tamsen began to discover her own talents for programming, photography, DIY, and chess. She even started to share her brother’s love of cooking, although her approach was always more methodical than his. In her garden, Tamsen grows egg plants to make her favourite meal, cookies. When she wants to relax, she enjoys sunbathing at the beach and throwing parties for her friends.

Tamsen lives at 51 Rock Pool Park, near to her work and next door to her colleague Athena. The house has an upside-down floor plan, with the main living spaces located on the top floor.

The Hernandez-Grey Family

Star news reporter Annie and her older brother Franco were raised in Isla Paradiso by their mum Hailey, after their loving and devoted dad Cirino mysteriously disappeared. Annie and Hailey, both generous and good-humoured, if occasionally little short-tempered, did their best to set a positive example for Franco, but he grew more and more unkind every day. Years later, Annie and Franco, now completely estranged from one another, married brother and sister Sherman and Rhoda, a police officer and thief respectively. Together Franco and Rhoda built up a powerful crime syndicate, while Annie and Sherman devoted all of her talent for investigative journalism and his knowledge of forensics to bringing them down. When Sherman passed away from old age, Annie continued their work alone, foiling several of her brother’s most diabolical schemes, while caring for her and Sherman’s two children, Ty and Athena.

Now Annie has reached the top of her career, re-married, and had a third child. Franco has moved on too, having retired, more or less, from the world of organized crime, and declined into bitter, loveless old age. Still, Annie has a watchful eye on the young, ambitious, and very evil Morgana and Richie, who seem to keen to rise to fill Franco and Rhoda’s shoes. What dark secrets will she uncover next?

Annie’s wife Susannah is an energetic and determined young witch, who, just like Annie, knows how to laugh at herself when she messes up. When she’s not training for her professional sports job, she likes to jam on her guitar with her sister Danette.

Annie and Sherman’s daughter Athena has just come home from university, and has landed herself a job at the nearby science center. Like her brother and dad, she is not an occult sim, although she can work her own kind of magic with a chemistry lab. Annie loves swapping recipes with Ty, joking around with Susannah, and growing plasma fruit for her mum.

Athena’s half-sister Ruth is good and loves the outdoors, which is an interesting combination of traits for a young vampire! Click here for YA CAS spoilers.

In my game, Ruth is a vampire/witch hybrid, but since hybrids cannot be saved to the library or shared, the version I have uploaded is just a vampire. If you would like to add the witch occult back to her, you’ll need Nraas Hyrbid and Nraas Master Controller.

The family lives at 53 Rock Pool Park, next door to Athena’s work.

Beachside Water Park

The whole family can enjoy a fun summer’s day at Barnacle Bay’s largest beach, located at 1500 New Barnacle Blvd. There’s a wave machine, food register, grill, unbreakable bathrooms, lifeguard’s chair, loungers, fire pit, roller coaster with flume, and of course the sea itself. There is also a  decent amount of space left for sims to lay down their towels and play games. The venue is not upgraded to the highest level of the real estate system, because the criteria are a bit silly and specific (for example, all-in-one bathrooms don’t count as toilets).

The Flynn Family

When their parents parents passed away, young witches Maggie, Mitchell, and Cora were sent to live with their uncle Edmund in Midnight Hollow. But after only a few weeks under his bad management, the family fortune had shrunk to almost nothing, and Edmund had revealed his true nature – selfish, resentful, and unkind. He blamed the children for all his mistakes, and put Maggie and Edmund to work for long hours in his toy factory. But each night, Maggie left Edmund to look after baby Cora and sneaked from the house to work a shift at the masoleum, hoping to save up enough simoleons for their escape.

Walking home through the graveyard one morning, Maggie came across a headstone engraved with her uncle’s name. One reanimation ritual and sunlight charm later, the real Edmund Flynn was restored to life, and able to tell his niece all about Jackson Bishop, the imposter who had stolen his identity and drowned him in his own pool. Maggie took Uncle Edmund to the police station, were he gave a testimony damning enough to put Jackson safely behind bars.

The family inheritance was gone, but the children were free of their evil guardian. Though their real uncle offered to take them in, Maggie and Mitchell were eager to move on from Midnight Hollow and away from the bad memories they’d made there. Maggie’s birthday was just a few days away, and when it arrived she successfully sued for guardianship of her younger brother and sister. The whole family moved to Barnacle Bay, where Maggie joined the local police force. Maggie is based on Maggie Flynn from Midnight Hollow.

A few sim months after her arrival in Barnacle Bay, Maggie’s boss Jodie introduced her to life guard and genie Tomas. They were instantly drawn to one another’s kind, brave natures and love of sports, and only waited a few days before deciding to get married. Tomas has a daughter from a previous relatioship, Itria, who lives  across the street with her mum and step-dad, and visits often. Tomas shares Maggie’s strong desire to protect the people in her care, and he knows more than a little about evil uncles too: in fact he had one of his own, who imprisoned his sister Marjanah inside an enchanted lamp.

Tomas came into his parents’ lives when they were very old, after Marjanah had vanquished their uncle, enjoyed a successful career, and had four children of her own. But the years of sorrow his family suffered are never far from his mind. That’s why he became a lifeguard – not just because he loves the sunshine, has a flair for the dramatic, and looks great in trunks, but to keep other people’s loved ones as safe as he wants his to be.

Since starting high school, Mitchell has been in love with Deborah, the talented and vivacious eldest daughter of retired crime lord Franco Bagley-Hernandez. Deborah is a vampire, older than Mitchell, and a member of the scariest family in town, but he’s as brave as his big sister and refuses to be chased away.

Maggie worked especially hard at her job during their first few weeks in Barnacle Bay to give a better experience of being a teenager than she had, and to allow him to pursue his interests in sports and writing. Mitchell used to tell Cora stories when she was scared at night, and now he’s working on turning them into a book for her. Mitchell is based on Mitchell Flynn from Midnight Hollow.

Cora is a sweet-natured little girl with a very sharp mind. She enjoys mixing chemistry potions, practicing chess moves, and playing on her toy drum. When Itria comes to stay, the girls share a bedroom. Cora is based on Cora Flynn from Midnight Hollow.

Maggie, Tomas, Mitchell, and Cora live at 397 Tidal Terrace in a house called Cinnamon Surf.

The Johnkins-Caliente Family

Nina‘s twin sister Dina lives just across the road at 29 Ferry Lane. Despite their almost identical looks, the girls couldn’t be more different: unlike her shy, romantic sister, Dina is outgoing, goal-orientated, and pragmatic. Whereas Nina has chosen the quiet life of a self-employed personal trainer, Dina has schmoozed her way into the upper echelons of political office, and, as the next objective she sets herself, is thinking of using her wealth, charisma, and connections to make an even greater fortune for herself in the real estate business. No challenge is too tough for this ambitious young sim, except perhaps helping out with the housework – but luckily she has a butler to take care of that. Dina is based on Dina Caliente from Pleasantview.

Dina’s husband Lee-Roy made a name while studying for his Technology degree at Sims University by setting up, developing, and selling a series of five-star technology and lifestyle blogs. His success earned him a position at The Simming Times, where he now works as lead reporter. Lee-Roy is based on Lee-Roy Johnkins from Barnacle Bay.

Lee-Roy’s alien son Dromiro is a budding inventor, with a real gift for creating unusual toys. He also loves spending time outdoors, fishing, bug hunting, or playing tag with his best friend and step-cousin Itria.

This is their Ferry Lane home.
